Each patient goes through a thorough examination procedure including full spinal x-rays (bulk billed), peripheral x-rays if required, complete physical examination, Computerized muscle scan and a gait assessment.

On this visit the health professional will explain all of your results to you in detail and inform you as to the reason for your problems. They will explain options for managing these issues and will prepare a personalized treatment program for you.

There is no obligation to get any treatment following this report.

The x-rays service is provided by Intelligent Chiropractic Supplies. It is a requirement of this service that following the explanation of results that the films be sent away to be digitally scanned and reported on by a radiologist. The films and radiologists report will be released to the patient (if requested) following this process.

Treatments

The Back Dr. is different to other clinics because we utilize the skills and expertise of multiple health professionals and modalities of treatment to help our patients. Each patients treatment program involves one or more of these modalities dependant on their individual needs.

Chiropractic

Chiropractics primary focus is the detection of misalignments of you spine, pelvis and limbs. These are called Subluxations of the spine and they cause :

  • Muscle spasm and weakness
  • Inflammation to the joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles around that joint.
  • Interference with the transmission of nerve signals. The result of this interference caused by subluxations is a reduction in the function of your body's cells and organs. This reduction in function can lead to pain, illness, disease and other symptoms.

Chiropractic treatment involves locating offending subluxations and their causes and performing adjustments to remove them. This leads to restoration of the nerve signals, reduction in inflammation and restoration of normal muscle function.

Excercise Rehabilitation

Rehabilitations primary focus is in muscle and connective tissue problems, it involves the detection of:

  • Muscle imbalances, weaknesses, spasms and other problems
  • Ligament and tendon tears and strains
  • Inflammation due to injury or repetitive strain
  • Postural abnormalities.

Treatment involves exercises, stretches, postural training, hot/cold therapy, ultrasound/electro physical therapy, specific soft tissue work...etc.

Remedial Massage Therapy

Massage involves acting and manipulating the patient's body with pressure, tension, motion, or vibration done manually. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue.

Massage therapy is important in our treatment protocols. Massage is well known for it's pain relieving qualities. The combination of Massage therapy, physiotherapy and chiropractic combats the most important factors associated with spinal dysfunction... Muscle, Connective tissue and Bone.

X-ray

We take our X-rays standing up. The reason they are done that way is so we can see how your body reacts to gravity. Weightbearimg postural X-rays show true spinal deviation and postural problems.

All X-rays are analyzed and recorded so we can best tailor our treatment for each individuals needs.

X-rays are bulk billed so there is no cost to the patient.

Holistic Kinesiology

Holistic Kinesiology aims to improve your health and wellbeing by stimulating your body's own inbuilt healing potential. Holistic kinesiologists are trained in the structural, emotional, nutritional, electromagnetic, energetic, metaphysical, physiological and psycho-spiritual areas of natural healthcare and they address the causes of the issue and prepare the body & mind to begin the healing process. This is where holistic kinesiology has a great advantage because it can provide a wealth of information about what is causing their problem, dramatically speeding up the process of real healing. Patients often have subconscious beliefs that limit their ability to heal.

Holistic Kinesiologists monitor muscles to access the brain. Certain muscles have been found to relate to specific acupuncture channels, organ and gland systems. This is also used to find the cause of imbalances. This natural feedback process allows a holistic Kinesiologist to go underneath the conscious symptoms to isolate the causal factors. Muscle feedback is then used to guide the practitioner to the priority correction. There are hundreds of correction techniques from all areas of complementary medicine. And the Kinesiologist selects the most appropriate correction and employs it.

A kinesiology treatment is called a balance and is very gentle. Treatments may last up to two hours and will involve the selective use of acupressure, nutrition, blood and lymph reflexes, various forms of counseling, homoeopathy, traditional Tibetan and Indian medicine, reflexology, and aromatherapy. What is unique to kinesiology is the use of manual muscle-monitoring feedback to communicate with the body and provide solutions to the patient’s problem.

Dietary Advice

Ines can assist you with a range of areas from simply learning how to improve your nutrition, to managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cholesterol, gastrointestinal disorders, food allergy and intolerance, and helping you achieve your weight goals. Ines will provide you with a personalised nutritional program and support to help you reach your nutritional goals.

One of the greatest impacts you can have on your health is to improve the quality of your diet. We depend on good food and nutrition for the normal functioning of our bodies. Some nutrients are not made by the body and so it essential that we obtain these from our diet. Without a balanced intake of nutrients, we can shift this balance to poor health and lead to the development of illnesses.

The good news is that better nutrition can significantly help reduce the risk of developing conditions such as osteoporosis, blood pressure and cancer. A Dietitian can help you determine the adequacy of your current diet and provide you with practical advice and recommendations to address any insufficiencies and suit your preferences. A Dietitian can help you ensure that you are giving your body the right amount of nutrition.

A Dietitian can also help you identify and manage your special needs.

Orthotics

We believe that the feet are the foundation of your body and as such are extremely important in how your body functions and balances. Dysfunction in the feet can cause problems in your ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, spine and even your neck. Your body is a functioning machine, and as such needs fine tuning.

Once your foot begins to flatten/roll inwards, the body has to react to maintain a balanced posture. This involves rolling the knee inwards, shifting your hips forwards and outwards. Your spine reacts to this by creating compensatory curves to maintain the body’s balance.

These curves are held in place by muscles which work a lot harder than required if normal posture was maintained. Over time these postures cause back, neck & limb pain, stiffness, headaches, nerve pain and eventually arthritis.

All patients who show signs of foot dysfunction will be advised to have custom molded Orthitics made for their feet.

Natural Detoxification

We have developed a Natural, Safe and Effective detoxification program.

The full detox lasts 6 weeks on average and we also have a short (2 week) detox.
